Loan Forgiveness

More OR desert

Loan forgiveness programs provide tax-free financial support to eligible students enrolled in approved academic programs. In return, recipients commit to a service obligation in underserved or high-need areas after graduation.

Oregon practice sites can apply to participate in Loan Forgiveness programs by filling out a Site Application.

The Primary Care Loan Forgiveness (PCLF) program was created to address critical workforce shortages in rural Oregon. It supports primary care physicians, physician associates/assistants, doctors of nursing practice, general surgeons, and psychiatrists who are committed to serving in underserved areas.

PCLF awards may cover full tuition and fees but are capped at the highest resident tuition rate charged by publicly funded health professional training programs in Oregon.

The Scholars for a Healthy Oregon Initiative (SHOI) offers students the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in underserved communities across Oregon. In exchange for a service commitment after graduation, SHOI covers full tuition and fees for eligible students enrolled in approved OHSU medical programs.
