Biography

Maryam Al-Ghezi joins CEDAR as a PBMS Ph.D. student in Dr. Joshua Moreau’s lab. Maryam is originally from Baghdad, Iraq but also lived in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a while. She graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a B.A in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a minor in French studies in 2024. During her undergraduate years, she worked as undergraduate student researcher in Dr. Katelyn Byrne’s lab at OHSU, exploring T cell infiltration dynamics and the spatial organization of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma tumor microenvironment. In the Moreau lab, she is excited to explore the molecular mechanisms driving tissue-resident memory T cells egress. Outside research, Maryam likes spending time with her friends, going to live music, and running.
