Biography
I am an environmental epidemiologist with an interest in how (and when during the lifecourse) exposure to natural and built environments is embodied, and to what magnitude this embodiment drives chronic disease risk and survival. I have been trained in biology (BSc), ecosystems and biodiversity (MSc), landscape architecture (RA), environmental exposure assessment/GIS (PhD), and epidemiology (postdoc) and aim to use holistic, policy-relevant approaches to assess the impact of environments on human health, including the impact of environmental exposures across the cancer continuum.
I have previously produced epidemiological research on environmental exposures including greenspace, walkability, air pollution and noise, heat, neighborhood socioeconomic status, and healthcare accessibility. I work closely with members of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology to advocate for equitable, health promoting environments.
Aside from epidemiological research and supervision, I teach ESHH 511/611 Concepts of Environmental Health (Winter) and ESHH 512/612 Global & Planetary Health Concepts (Spring) at the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. I am also currently learning new skills as the leader of the U.S. team in GreenME, which is a Horizon EU project focused on green care for mental health equity.
