Interpretation:

A positive result for BV, Candida, Gardnerella, and/or Trichomonas means that nucleic acid is present in the sample and indicates the patient has Candidiasis, Bacterial Vaginosis and/or Trichomoniasis when combined with clinical signs and symptoms.

Specimen Requirements:

Vaginal specimens using Xpert Swab should be placed in transport medium following collection. Samples can be transported and stored for up to 42 days prior to testing at room temperature or refrigerated.

If collected using Aptima Multitest collection kit, the test will be performed at ARUP with applicable billing under the test Vaginitis Panel by TMA (3002581) (Opens in a new window)
